How to Care for A Stiletto Knife

A stiletto knife is a type of switchblade. Taking extra care of a pocketknife especially a stiletto knife is very important, as these types of knives are very susceptible to rusting and dust accumulation. There are two very important rules to follow when it comes to taking care of your stiletto knife: clean it often and make sure the blade is dried after use.

Things You'll Need To Clean Your Stiletto Knife

- Oil such as Olive or Vegetable
- Clean Towel
- Clean Cloth
- A Sharpening stone
- Bowl of Clean water

Instructions

1. Dry the blade of the stiletto knife as soon as it gets wet. This will prevent it from rusting.
2. Make sure to sharpen the blade when it starts to get dull to ensure the stiletto knife is always in good working order.
3. When you clean the blade, also polish the handle of the stiletto knife with a polisher. If the handle of the knife is a wooden one, use a polisher made for wood or wood oil. When the handle is metal, use a metal polisher.
4. After sharpening the stiletto knife blade, oil it. Wipe any of the extra oil off with a clean cloth.
5. Make sure to oil all of the pivot points on the stiletto knife every week. Put 1 to 2 drops of oil on each pivot point and open and close the knife blade a few times to work the oil into the pivot points.
